Orofacial pain can be the result of a temporomandibular disorder. If you are suffering from this problem, our dentist may suggest a TMJ treatment involving an oral appliance or may refer you to another provider for physical therapy or, in very extreme cases, surgery.
Another source of oral and facial discomfort is a condition called trigeminal neuralgia. This problem can be caused by pressure from a blood vessel, artery or tumor, or damage or deformity in areas around the trigeminal nerve. In some cases, it can occur in patients with multiple sclerosis. Symptoms can include brief but very intense bursts of pain when eating, talking, shaving, maintaining oral hygiene, applying makeup or even from experiencing exposure to a strong breeze. This of course can make a dental visit extremely uncomfortable, if not impossible.
If you have been struggling with this problem, please contact Revive Dental at 281-916-4765. We can schedule you for a visit with Dr. Inas Rahima to discuss your orofacial pain in Alvin, Texas. It is important that you talk with Dr. Rahima about all of your symptoms and where they are occurring on your face. Our team will find ways to help make your visits to our office easier and, if necessary, refer you to a specialist for further treatment.
